"Super Krewes" are designated as such because of their large floats, large memberships, and their celebrity monarchy. Because they are also more recently founded, the super krewes are generally more open than the traditionally exclusive krewes.
Reigning as King Bacchus XLII in 2010 was New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees. The hard luck NFL franchise won its first Super Bowl in team history in 2010 after 43 years largely filled with losing seasons and futility.
