Be it from butter in Birmingham, hot dogs in Brooklyn (most famously), or jalapenos in Chicago, I.F.O.C.E. eaters, or "gurgitators" as they are sometimes called, know almost no bounds. Their numbers are legion- thousands compete and the organization compiles a ranking system for the eaters. The absurdity of the "sport" of competitive eating is not lost upon the Shea brothers, whose promotional panache is considerable, but such acknowledgement does not make the events any less grotesque.
